Meet The Team

Tommy Kang - Writer, Producer, Star

Tommy Kang is an actor and comedian from Canarsie, Brooklyn. Frustrated by the pigeonholed "model minority" representation afforded to East Asian-American actors and - especially - East Asian-American stories, Tommy got together with two of his closest friends to create a show that reflected his reality, growing up in an assimilated blue collar family; a three-dimensional representation of flawed people of color. Taking A Hit tells the true story of Tommy's upbringing as the youngest in a line of martial artists.

As a stand up comedian, Tommy has performed at NYC staples like Gotham Comedy Club, Caroline's, Broadway Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, The Standing Room, The Stand, and many more. He's performed at festivals like SXSW and MAGFest, and hosts regular comedy shows at small venues around the city. Tommy is currently recording his debut comedy special Bad Asian, to be released by Chicken Ranch Records. As an actor, Tommy has appeared on HBO's Divorce, and indie horror comedy The Restaurant.

Sam got his start as a kidnapped toddler in Hocus Pocus, and last year performed opposite Corbin Bleu as his jewy funny friend Max in upcoming film Ovid And The Art Of Love. His award-winning comedy music act "Sam & Bill" got raves in Splitsider. As a writer, his film Everything Is Terrible (co-written by Dean Preston) is in pre-production with comedy director Jonathan Kesselman (The Hebrew Hammer), to be shot this year.
